I love New Vegas, its my favorite game of all time. And it is for a lot of other people too. This unfortunately means that its almost impossible to say anything negative about the game on Reddit without getting massively shat on. The only point you seem to be allowed to criticize is the bugs, which gets rebutted by "but they only had 18 months to make it" or "Bethesda was in charge of QA", as if any of these things excuse it for you as a customer. So now that the game is 10 years old and most of us have played it tons of times, I thought it would be a good time to make a thread where we can actually criticize this lovely game. I'll start, now bear in mind this is of course all degrees of subjective so don't throw "uR nOT obJEvTiVE" at me just yet:
The bugs has to be meantioned first. The game ran horribly at release and still did for a long time after. Its first many years later with patches and mods that we reached something that can be called mostly stable. I'm playing it right now only with stability mods on and it still crashes about once every 1-2 hours, and its still very buggy and janky.
Caravan, this game's made up card game, is horrible. Firstly its very buggy somehow. I am surprised they couldn't even bug fix a solitaire-like card game, but here we are. Secondly even when it works its not very fun. It takes minimum 3 cards to make a caravan and only one king or jack to ruin it. It means it heavily favors just fucking up your opponent and hope you win the war of card attrition. The game used to be stupidly easy but was then patched so now the AI will spam kings and jacks constantly. After I got the 30 games achievement I dropped it. Lastly the game doesn't do anything with Caravan. There is no quest to become the Mojave champion or such. I get this isn't needed but it would have helped make it interesting. The only other games in the game are casino games which all depends on your luck stat. I would love being able to play high stakes Caravan.
Cut content. Roleplaying is best when you actually have good reason to join both sides. In Fallout New Vegas the NCR gets the majority of the content. If you side with the Legion you can finish all the faction quests in a few hours, meanwhile the NCR has so many quests I always have to check the wiki to remember them all. Its such a shame. It doesn't help that for 3 of the endings you can work with the NCR but only 1 for the Legion. I don't get this when in 2 of those endings you end up double crossing the NCR anyways, why not allow the player to double cross the Legion? The difference being that the NCR will stand down and the Legion will then try to fight you and your army.
Caesar's Legion is weird. I love most of the faction. I love the ideological conflict between a faction trying to redo democracy but running into the same problems with corruption vs a brutal but safe dictatorship. I like talking to everyone and its cool to see how different peoples' options are of the factions. Some just hate the Legion outright because of their massacre. Some see the value of having a safe society, Cass mentions how she considered running her caravan in the Legion instead of the NCR because its safer. Its cool. However I can't get over the fact that this faction is a big ancient Rome LARP. They run around in football gear. Why not just make them look normal, or similar to Romans but not literally Romans. Its such a well crafted faction that gets ruined by this pretty silly design.
Independent is basically the House route but with you instead. You don't get to choose what your plans are other than your interactions with the small factions, which also doesn't feel special. You don't ever get to use your securitrons. It would have been extremely cool to be able to send your army with you to wipe out or subjugate factions instead of just doing the same quest you do if you side with House. Again, you are also forced into a choice between an uneasy alliance with the NCR where you double cross them, or killing both major factions. You can't make it clear to them beforehand that you don't want to be annexed.
The economy is poorly balanced. In Fallout 3 you barely made any money and vendors were just as poor, so it took a long time to accumulate wealth. Most players would just use gear they found instead of paying for it at a store. In Fallout New Vegas you can easily have 5000 caps by the time you reach The Strip. I had twice that when I reached it 2 days ago. Stores have tons of money and are more than willing to buy all your junk. The economy just breaks when vendors are willing to buy all the crap you pick up at such high prices as NV has. I think you can get them to buy for 90% of their value, that's fucking insane. I try to not level up barter too quickly as it just makes the game too easy but I also hate crippling myself like this. The game's vendors need to be selective about what they buy and how much they pay for it. You need 2000 caps to inter the strip, that's pretty much nothing. The game even gives you tons of ways around the credit check so clearly they meant for it to be a hurdle.
The map. I'm not saying its bad, but going from Fallout 3 to NV makes you miss the feeling of being able to go in any direction and always find something. New Vegas is very railroaded. It has a ton of mountains and invisible walls to make the player go specific places (Edit: a lot of people are citing this one setence and using it to rebut me, guys read the whole damn thing). I can still let myself get lost in Fallout 3, in NV I always know exactly which way I'm supposed to go. The game has no counterpart to F3's Andale or Oasis. There are no small outskirts places for you to discover in some random spot. All the towns are along the main roads, with a handful of cool places that are off the beaten path. I love following the road through Primm->Nipton->Novac->Boulder City->Vegas, its an excellent experience for following the main story and finding a ton of side content, and I love they gave returning players the option to head straight north and try their luck. But when I just want to do some side content I always feel like I have to follow a track. I AM NOT SAYING THE MAP IS BAD. Just that it follows a certain design that some don't like. I like it when I just want to do the main story, its a really nice experience that way. But if you want to just go in any direction like in a Bethesda RPG you will get disappointed. There are tons of invisible walls and mountains in the way. Imagine if you started in Freeside instead and just had to get the cash to get into the strip (more than 2k). Then you can choose to follow the I-88, go towards Jacobstown, Bitter Springs, do stuff in Freeside or the other communities around Vegas. Would be a great alternative start for returning players.
Edit: some extra
Combat is ass to say it bluntly. For some reason people always excuse the poor combat in RPG's because its not the games' focus or because its almost tradition at this point. I don't see why I as a player and paying customer should make excuses for a product I paid for. Its embarrasing how poor the AI is in the game, how poorly combat works and how unbalanced the game is. I can go through a ton of the game with my Couriers Stash 10mm and Vault armor and just blast entire legion or NCR camps, and then suddenly difficulty can turn on a dime and an enemy can kill me in 3-4 hits. Difficulty in RPGs is such an important thing as it directly influences your decisions. In Fallout 1 and 2 I did my best to not bite off more than I could chew. In NV can do pretty much anything other than go to Sloan at the start, which is a part that most have noticed too.
The selection of guns is fine, but not armors. Without ultimate edition you don't get any good early game armor in the game. The only option is leather armor. Mid game you fight to get either power armor or combat armor mk2, and late game is all about Riot Gear from Lonesome Road. They could have made armor interesting by giving it stronger buffs and debuffs. PA and metal armor has a -1 to agility but often +1 to strength. Why not give such traits to all armors and maybe even make it stronger? Too much of the armor is also faction armor which you don't want to be wearing unless you are infiltrating somewhere.
Speech is too much like Fallout 3 and not enough like 1 and 2. In 3 and NV dialogue either ends in a skill check (too often speech) or you having to do a task if you can't pass the check. What's being said is largely unimportant unless it leads to a different outcome. In Fallout 1 and 2 dialogue was much more about reading each option and thinking about how the character you were talking too would react. You often couldn't just [speech] 50 do what I want. NV has a few moments where you actually does have to argue and its some of its strongest parts.
Crafting could have been more. This is more of a "what could have been" argument, but personally I don't see why you shouldn't be able to craft a lot more guns or armors. I don't want Fallout 4's style of somehow being able to craft tons of pre war objects you clearly don't have the tools to make, but just having a good selection of makeshift guns and armors would have made crafting and also survival much better.
These are my thoughts. Please feel free to share yours!
[FNV] The Guide on How to get The Best LOD Possible with mods
DISCLAIMER: This guide has some minor issues. I plan on fully updating it and making a TTW version + a frontier version if needed when the frontier comes out on January 15 (HYPE!). As of now here's some quick fixes when you get to the Generating Lod section of the guide : TTW- Don't generate Lod for "Capitalwasteland" in lodgen NV/TTW- Get xLODGEN and generate terrain lod for both "wastelandnv" and "wastelandnvmini" if using MOREMOJAVE Now back to the guide.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Video I posted earlier Showcasing the lod Ok so this is gonna be a big one. In this post I'll detail two guides, one for base FNV and one for TTW- [I'll do a TTW guide later because I have a lot of work I should be doing rn and typing out the ttw version would take a bit] telling you how to completely overhaul your distant LODS and landscape. This will not cover grass mods or landscape overhauls in that sense but It will add new buildings hence more content and for TTW{lies} some optional building revisions to make your wasteland/s seem new. While technically everything is optional I will be tagging mods that are not necessary for your games distances to look just as good as mine (though I highly recommend downloading everything I say if you don't know what you're doing). Now lets begin with base New Vegas. Note: Everything is listed in install order ;) -Prerequisites (STABILITY): I have a GTX 1070ti and an 8700k fyi. With ENB I reach 70-80 percent GPU usage and around 20-40% CPU usage max. Install JIP, Johnny Guitar, NVAC, NVTF, FNV mod limit fix, Heap replacer (Very important for smooth gameplay). If using an Nvidia card disable FNV vsync and use the vsync in Nvidia Control panel (test this as this doesn't increase performance for everyone). Note on tick fix: If you use ENB disable bUseD3D9Ex. If you use Nevada skies disable bInlineCommonFunctions to remove the clicking sound during storms (this may not be needed anymore so test for yourself) . Finally If you want to play over 60 fps set bAlternateGTCFix=0 and bFPSFix=1. YOU ARE NOW DONE WITH THE BASIC PERFORMANCE INCREASES. If you really need more fps try installing TTW (it runs better for me for some reason) or try turning down Actor fade/Object fade -THE LODS The reason you're here in the first place. Start by installing these mods in This order and do EXACTLY what I say lol BASE:
Much Needed Lod + NMC Patch if you use NMC/Ojo patch if Prioritizing Ojo (IMPORTANT: Disable both the mod and its patch in your mod manager, not just the esp. We'll activate these later).
Wasteland Flora and Terrain Overhaul: Install the Main file for my look. (You can also install UHQNV Rocks - Roads and Terrain Overhaul in the optional files. I let all my other texture mods overwrite it. That being Nmc, ojo, etc etc)
TCM's Lod overhaul + NMC patch if needed (You still need the NMC patch even if you don't use ojo as TCM uses ojo textures by default. The TCM author is working on his own NMC patch so be on the lookout for that)
Lucky 38 Lod Fix: Fixes that busted ass Lod while inside the Lucky 38
Improved LOD Noise Texture: If you dislike the regular Lod noise. (Optional as I'm personally not using this)
Q: Where's Less horrendous Vicki and Vance Casino?! A: It's Included in TCM's Lod overhaul :) -NEW STRUCTURES For the new buildings and towers showcased In my video next download: Uncut Wasteland: For the guide you only need the regular version but the NPC version will of course work just fine. Download any patches you may need for other mods and fix conflicts In fnvedit if needed (I personally use outside bets TTW and the outside bets patch for uncut and these do not work together by themselves. This is where things can get tricky and why the TTW guide might take a little longer). THIS AND THE NEXT MOD HAVE THE BIGGEST IMPACT OUT OF THE STRUCTURES SECTION OF THIS GUIDE. MoreMojave: Adds more Locations to explore around your wasteland. Works with AWOP but I recommend using it as a replacement as its way less op and broken. This is a big one. NOTE: As of now I personally get this missing Lod glitch at this one area (3:44 in my showcase Video). It's a Lod from MoreMojave so If this happens to you and you just can't stand it remove MoreMojave. Nellis Air Force Base Lightweight Overhaul: Adds more stuff to the barren Nellis air force base. I made this one optional because the LODS don't fully work I've noticed, and it has very op containers (can easily be deleted with FNVedit) but I couldn't leave it out as It's one of my personal favorites as of late. (highly optional) Jean Overhaul: Adds that beautifully dilapidated casino and courthouse Lod showcased near Jean skydiving in my video. Note that you can't actually enter the buildings it adds atm, they're just for flavor. A must have for me personally (optional) Nv Animated Zeppelin + NV Bos Zeppelin and their update files or Animated Mojave (Both zeppelin's version): Only pick Animated Zeppelin and Animated Bos zeppelin if you're not interested in the other features Animated Mojave adds or you don't know how to remove certain features yourself. (optional) Camp McCarren Animated Monorail (Use the AAM version if using Animated Mojave from the previous mod): Well... it adds an animated monorail... kind of self explanatory (optional... but come on, you know you need it) Ultra-Luxe Fountain Expanded: Very simple mod to make the ultra lux fountain more fancy like. (optional) NV Animated Neon Pole Dancer for Gomorrah: For all the perverts reading this like me ;). (optional) Lucky 38 E3 Lights Restored or The Mogul Mausoleum - A Lucky 38 Overhaul. The former simply adds meshes so will be more compatible with things if you want to be extra safe. The latter is more performance heavy While inside of the lucky 38 as it also edits the interior which is kind of beyond the scope of this guide. (optional) ----------| Q: What about Primm overhaul, the many goodsprings overhauls, Novac overhauls, Nipton, etc etc A: First reason being performance and stability. Some of those beloved overhauls add too many things to tiny areas and will cause fps issues for most people. Second, I want this guide to be as compatibility friendly while still looking amazing so I only overhauled tiny areas that rarely see use by other mods (Jean/Nellis). Third, I just don't like those mods. Goodsprings is iconic to me, novac is iconic, nipton, etc etc. I like how they look in the base game. If you want you can add those mods though. The Lod generating process will be the same in the end but make sure you go to the locations and double check that generated Lod is working properly. -GENERATING LOD: At this point you should have all the appropriate ESP's and mods with Much Needed LOD disabled in both your right and left windows (mo2). Not sure how the interface in vortex looks but just disable the whole mod basically. No esp or anything. NOTE: I'm not gonna go in depth on installing lodgen you'll have to do that yourself. A thread that might help: How to install fnvlodgen with mod manager?(noob question sorry) : fnv (reddit.com) --------------------| (IN MO2 ADD THIS ARGUMENT TO YOUR LODGEN pointing to the directory of a newly created LOD Output folder for your LODS to go in). (Vortex users) If you use vortex I'm actually not sure what you'd do. You'll sadly have to look up how to create a Lod output folder for vortex. Example for Mo2 Users: -o:"C:\ExampleFolder\Mo2\mods\LOD Output" Picture Example -Now Run Lodgen through your mod manager. Make sure you Set your alias to 8192 by 8192. Leave the compression settings at whatever they default to for you. Don't generate tree Lod or terrain Lod if you have the option. -For the first run ONLY SELECT NVDLC01BigMT. Hit Generate (REMINDER: DONT HAVE MUCH NEEDED LOD INSTALLED OR ACTIVATED IN ANY WAY) https://preview.redd.it/tlk7vw7kr8461.png?width=1542&format=png&auto=webp&s=532be431e166c5b40da73948e11ece4fe0eef0e9 After that Finishes generating You can close Lodgen. ----------| -THE REST: Now enable the Much Needed Lod mod and esp (Make sure it's placed below The Lod additions esp). Also if for some reason Flora Overhaul is below these two esp's put it above it (Place Flora Overhaul Below Both Load Additions and Much needed Lod) -Open up Lodgen again and Generate everything For your Mojave wasteland EXCEPT for NVDLC01BgMT. NOTE: We do this because Much needed Lod Doesn't work well in old world blues apparently. I actually haven't tested myself but I do know when I have much needed LOD installed during the generation process on BigMT I always Get error messages :( After that's finished tick you LOD Output mod and have it overwrite everything. Most of you should be all set (IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS TELL ME AS I WAS VERY TIRED WHILE I TYPED THIS AND MAY HAVE MADE A MISTAKE SOMEWHERE... I don't think I did though) ----------| -OPTIONAL INI TWEAKS FOR EVEN BETTER LODS: Add these Lines to your FalloutCustom.ini: [Display] fEyeEnvMapLOD2=2000.0000 fEyeEnvMapLOD1=1500.0000 fEnvMapLOD2=3000.0000 fEnvMapLOD1=2500.0000 [LOD] fLODLandDropAmount=550.0000 fLodDistance=1800.0000 [TerrainManager] fBlockLoadDistance=200000.0 fDefaultBlockLoadDistanceLow=90000.0 fLowBlockLoadDistanceLow=45000.0 fHighBlockLoadDistanceLow=90000.0 fDefaultTreeLoadDistance=35000.0 fLowTreeLoadDistance=20000.0 fHighTreeLoadDistance=80000.0 Q: What this does? A: This will Increase the distance at which Lod loads into the world a bit more than the max values. It wont effect timing but it MAY effect performance. I noticed maybe a 1-2 fps drop but I have a very well optimized game with good specs to boot. Test this yourself :)

[FNV] [MODHELP] Constant CTD when starting new game...
G'day, I've installed a lot of mods before and got the game to work in the past, but lately I've done the same thing and I keep CTD whenever I start a new game. I have no idea why the game worked with lots of mods in the past and isn't now. The problem started when I uninstalled the game once due to crashing at Primm, then clean reinstalled with roughly the same mod order while discarding some mods that may have been causing me to crash when entering Primm. Now I can't get in the game at all. I start the game, as soon as I go past the FNV intro, bam, CTD. No error message, nothing, just a crash. I don't know what is causing the crash, but I think it might be some of the mods. I know I will get yelled at for having too many mods, but honestly I don't care at this point, I just want to play some Tale of Two Wastelands... Fallout: New Vegas is by far the worst fallout game in my opinion, and here’s why. Fallout New Vegas is considered by most to be the best fallout game ever made, rivalling Fallout 1, 2, 3 and 4. People always seem to call it superior, and will always change the subject to New Vegas whenever a fallout discussion happens. After hearing this, you’d presume the game is amazing, right? No. It isn’t. This will be my in depth explanation on why Fallout New Vegas, although not terrible, is incredibly mediocre, and is stupidly overrated. 1: The introduction sequence: Probably the most famous mark of a fallout game is the introduction. Fallout 1, 2 and 3 excelled in this, setting the stage perfectly. However, my main point is about how these introductions are structured. In fallout 1, 2, and 3, they purposely leave as many details of the wasteland out as they can, in order to leave mystery and unexpectedness to the world. Fallout new Vegas completely turned a 360 on this concept, and purposely told you about all the factions and how the game ends BEFORE THE GAME HAS EVEN STARTED... why, you may ask? No reason, Obsidian just doesn’t know the most basic device of storytelling, which isn’t revealing the plot before the plot has even started.
The world itself. Ok, maybe we got off on the wrong foot here. Maybe the world makes up for most of it. Considering Mr House dealt with most of the nuclear warheads that attacked Vegas, maybe the world will feel alive and interesting, and make logical sense, unlike some of fallout 3’s locations, which admittedly didn’t make any logical sense in terms of food, water or trading like Arefu.
Well, no, actually. For a start, the biggest location in the entire game, The Strip, is executed really poorly. For one thing, The strip is placed on the complete north of the map, meaning travellers will need to travel sometimes hundreds of miles to even be able to see it. This would cripple a lot of profit from the strip, because travellers won’t simply have the time or money to go that far. But, fine. I guess I can believe that it is on the northern side of the map, I suppose, even if it is stupid. But where I draw the line, is the way to the strip. Somehow, no one realised that there is no definitive safe way to the strip. The strip is only accessible through a deathclaw encampment, a super mutant and nightkin infested settlement on top of a hill, or, a mountain alleyway filled with poisonous cazadores, and even worse, the entire way from the rock crushing plant to Camp McCarran is infested with well armed fiends and raiders! Has mr house or the NCR even considered making a safe place for tourists to come to the strip? Because I have a hard time believing so many people come onto the strip, even though logically they should be long dead by the time they reach Camp McCarran. And on the topic of the strip, there is also another settlement just outside the strip called freeside, which is swarming with muggers and highwaymen! How is the strip even still in business, with these muggers running around attacking everyone? This not only effects the strip, but the other businesses too, like the Van Graffs, Mick and Ralph’s, and the gang, the kings. Hell, it’s so dangerous someone at freesides north gate asks for 200 caps just to get there. How is no one even acknowledging the existence of them? You could at least shoe horn in a quest about driving the robbers out of freeside, even if it ends in a cheap speech check. It would be better than nothing. The world is practically empty and boring. Most of the locations are box standard NCR outposts, or abandoned farms with nothing interesting to them, (like wolf horn ranch.) There are also towns that have no logic to them like Primm. There is a ncr camp right next to it, so you would presume Primm is under NCR jurisdiction. You’re told that this isn’t the case, however. So why are they there? Why have they set up an outpost next to a place they have no control over, and is apparently overrun with raiders? And it gets worse. Primm has no trade for food, water, no toilet, no beds, and their only save haven is the casino. They don’t even have the hotel anymore, so why are they there? Shouldn’t they just leave at that point? I could go on, but just know that few locations even serve a purpose, beyond being filler apart from a few or zero quests.
Main quest: Act 1 The first part of the main quests revolves around you, the courier, searching for the man who shot you in the head. Not a bad idea actually, and I give some credit to obsidian for making an decent hook for role playing. The main quest, however, is extremely dull and linear, with no consequences for actions. The main quest actually praises the player for taking the easy way out of the situation, and punishes trying to diplomatically solve situations. Every clue you could get for completing long quests, can easily just be pickpocketed from them or stolen from their corpse. This is unlike fallout 3, where killing your only leads for where your dad went, completely locks you out of any clues, which is a great consequence for not caring and taking the easy way out. Most of the quests feel like filler, made to pad out your way to the strip rather than lead you into fascinating choices.
But finally, you arrive on the strip, ready to get the platinum chip back. But then, from the moment I started speaking to Benny, I realised how incompetent Obsidian was. He is voiced by Matthew Perry. Didn’t obsidian realise he is a comedic voice actor, not a serious or evil one? Benny sounds and feels like a bumbling comedian because of the voice acting and the script, removing any immersion you could have up until that point. There are only two ways to deal with him. Use black widow, or kill him. Also, this confrontation makes no sense as well. Confronting the owner of his OWN CASINO right in front of his 7 armed bodyguards, and the multiple chairmen in the casino. This feels so unrealistic, considering Benny may as well just kill you as soon as you confront him and threaten him to his face. 4: Factions Arguably; The factions in New Vegas feel incompetent and generic, sometimes even worse than fallout 4. You have 4 factions you have the choice to join. New California republic, Caesars Legion, Robert House and Yes Man. Let’s start off with the worst. Caesars legion. Never have I seen a more one dimensional evil faction in any type of media. They enslave innocent people, harass people, crucify everyone, and for no good reason. They are so generic and box standard that the Enclave look like saints compared to them. They only do this to threaten people into ignoring them, which in turn just drives people away from them and they end up supporting the NCR instead, worsening the legion for no reason. The legion is based off tribal ideologies, and as such wear tribal gear like re-fashioned football uniforms and use weapons like spears. Which is where the problem lies. How is the legion even alive at this point? They are just advanced tribals, and nothing compared to the heavily militaristic society of NCR. The fact that Caesar thinks he can even survive in the actual wasteland is honestly pitiful. The legion feels like it’s only there to serve as a generic evil faction for the player to join, rather than be an actual morally grey group of people. The NCR are unfortunately pretty generic; which feels like an incredibly missed opportunity, especially because of how morally grey they should be. They will only say no to something if it has an incredibly obvious downside. I will say that the Great Khans are executed a lot better here than anywhere else though. They will only stop supporting your ideals if you ruthlessly kill the factions, which should obviously be present with every faction. Like all factions, it boils down to the same experience because you recruit the exact same factions each time. This isn’t obsidians fault per se, but it still feels like all factions feel the same, just with a different coat of paint. Yes man is only there if you just screw over everyone in the game, and need someone who won’t judge your choices whether you slaughter everyone and just don’t care. This is another example of the game having zero consequences for your actions. You should be punished for killing everyone by not being able to finish the game, not still allowed like nothing happened. He serves as a generic, run of the mill faction, for people who want to get the game done without caring about choices. 5: Consequences Consequences are common place throughout fallout 1 - 3. They serve to punish the player for taking the easy way out of a situation, and pose problems in the future for your character. As I mentioned before, killing leads for your father end in having no clues to find him, resulting in needing to explore 100+ locations to find his location. Fallout new Vegas does not have this. I’ve already mentioned the main quest, but this leeches onto almost every quest. Come Fly With Me, a nonsensical side quests about launching a somehow fully functioning pre war rocket with some gel and modules, (Not being taking seriously; much like Fallout 2,) if you purposely screw up their HUGE rocket ship into crashing into each other, it affects nothing. This should be huge news! A giant rocket flying into the air and crashing into each other should become something huge in between common folk, but it doesn’t ever come into play. There is multiple examples I could also show you, like in the quest, That Lucky Old Sun, you are given the choice of helping the NCR, or giving it to some other random factions. But the NCR doesn’t even mention it at all if you give it to them or the other factions. Why? It feels like the world is completely disconnected from the quests, which makes every choice meaningless. 6: Speech system. Fallout 3’s speech system was much better than New Vegas’ in my opinion. This is because as long as you have 100 speech, (Done at level 5 or 6), you become a god of convincing every situation in your favour without any problem. This makes the game easy and the game doesn’t give you any challenge beyond that, and although fallout 3’s speech system is also pretty unbalanced, even if you had 100 speech, you couldn’t convince everyone. You only have a 49% chance of convincing three dog into giving you information, making the game not feel stupid easy, but actually interesting, and gave incentive to invest in other skills as well. This is unfinished at the moment, but I will finish it soon. Please give opinions in the comments, and i will reply if you would like. This was written by KillianMayor.
[FNV] Extreme FPS Issues when Looking in Certain Directions
I had this issue early on starting this modding session a few days ago following the nuclear modlist 2020 guide. I think i had just reached the end of the animals creatures sections or the large scale textures section when i sorted my load order through mod organizer 2 then started a new game. I spawned, with alternative start, with the NCR outside of Primm when the problem first occurred. Looking towards Primm itself the fps went down below 20 at least. So i quit and moved some things around i think, or i may have then actually moved onto the large textures section then restarded once i had done that. Loading into Primm the lag had gone so i continued modding. Loaded it up a few more times in the process in some areas there was lag and in others not. At camp golf for example looking towards Vegas i got lag. One time i loaded outside the NCR camp near Searchlight, no lag, another time there was lag when looking at the fire i think. Then towards the end on the road to Vegas before that rest stop just after the bridge, bad lag looking left or right (especially left towards that place with the robots). So i disabled everything from the early sections of the guide, disabled my part 1 mods merge which has the earlier mods in it and the lag continued. Any ideas? This happened about a year and a half ago. My wedding was taking place in Vegas, by an Elvis impersonator and everything. My wife and I aren't rich, so we were getting it done fast and cheap. We were staying at Buffalo Bills in Primm outside Vegas (again, being cheap.) It was the day of my wedding and I was in a nice looking suit. My soon to be wife was still getting ready with her mother, so I decided to walk the casino floor, and maybe play some penny slots or something. Insert CT (confused tourist.) CT: "Hey!" CT: HEEEEY!" CT: "HEY BUDY!!!" Me: "What? Are you talking to me?" CT: "Yeah! Go get me some more 10 dollar chips." CT: starts trying to hand me a small wad of money Me: Just staring blankly at him CT: "Now!" Me: "Dude, I don't work here." CT: "You are wearing a suit, who the hell wears a suit besides if ya work here!?" Me: "Well I promise you, I don't work here, I'm getting married today." CT: Looks pissed off but has stopped talking to me I decide immediately that I should just go back to the rooms. I start walking back towards them and CT starts trailing behind me a bit. I keep an eye on him as I start to get to the hallway with the elevators. He had gone to the front desk and started pointing at me. He STILL thought I was lying to him.
A Quick Observation/Inquiry About Radio New Vegas Advertisements
I caught a 'I wanna listen to some fallout music' kick and found a youtube video with Radio New Vegas with Mr. New Vegas parts included. One of his 'music breaks' that is always in your game (to my knowledge) is... "The preceding segment was sponsored by theSilver Rush. Silver Rush: feel the rush of a warm laser in your hand." I was just wondering, do you think House okays all sponsorships to RNV? From his Pre-War business days he. maybe more so than anyone post-war, recognizes the value of advertisement to help the Strip. I would make sense that the Van Graffs would likely be the one group outside of the Strip itself with the caps to pay the ad spot. I wonder if the Atomic Wrangler would have the caps or not? Its clearly not an issue of not endorsing potential competition (see the ads for Primm[A] and the Vikki and Vance[B] below) a). "Today's headlines were brought to you byPrimm. Primm: the other New Vegas." b). The news has been brought to you by theVikki and Vance Casino. Vikki and Vance: be our partners in crime." Now this makes sense according to my Pro-House cannon ending. It would only make sense when house takes over the whole region that he would invest in areas outside of the Strip itself.
Plugin + Mod Index (Overwriting) Load Order Help Needed for Mod Organizer!
Hi all! This is just as the title says. I am about to start my FNV play through and want to make sure I make every last resolution that I need before moving forward. I had LOOT organize my files once and then after reinstalling a mod and deleting it I resorted it again but it pretty drastically changed it on the second go even though there was nothing new and I just want to make sure it's actually sorted well. As for overwriting... I know the majority of this I should have been diligent about from the get go but I assumed that since it was MO (only having limited experience) that it wouldn't matter as long as I ordered the plugins. Seems I was wrong from what I've read. So if anyone can check these two lists and suggest changes I will love you and have your baby. EDIT: Also, while I understand the available help regarding the Mod Index order is going to be exceptionally low, I would hope that if there's even a few known corrections from personal experience I'd really appreciate it First, the plugin order:
What's something that seemed completely unrealistic that turned out to be accurate?
I always thought that Fallout New Vegas was wrong making the town of Primm just two buildings, but it turns out Primm is literally just two casinos and a really big gas station
This is my idea about what the series could be. I know a lot of you will not agree, and that’s okay, I’m only asking as a fellow fan of this beloved series that you don’t downvote me and my measly 26 karma for an idea. Also, if I got any lore wrong, correct me. Let me know what you think, and please add on to this idea! Let me just say, it’s probably a bad idea for it to take place anytime after the courier gets shot/sole survivor exits the vault/Dad leaves 101. As the legendary Fallout YouTuber, Oxhorn, had said, it would be a problem for them to have to pick one ending/choice and make it canon. Certain things can be worked around. You find few mentions of certain games in our later titles, but it shouldn’t be in places or years that screw things up. HOW TO FIT WITH LORE I personally support the idea of making it in Las Vegas, in 2265. Mister House had woke from his coma in 2138, but was not heard from or even known about until 2275, so they don’t have to replace our beloved, passed away voice actor for Mr. House or mention Mr. House’s existence. In this year, he sent out his Securitrons because of the NCR arriving at Hoover Dam. This means the and Caesars Legion would be there, and Las Vegas, not called New Vegas yet, would be occupied by the tribes that would eventually own the casinos in 2281, when the game takes place. VERY few characters and factions from the game should be shown, only ones 100% unavoidable. The Legion would be able to have scouts and occasional patrols, but since Fortification Hill wasn’t taken until 2277, they wouldn’t be a major part of the Mojave. The NCR would be known of, and could be mentioned and maybe even have scouts, but not much more. NCR rangers with the beloved armor would not exist, since the Desert Rangers merged with the NCR in 2271. Desert Rangers, who were their own group who eventually became the suited NCR rangers, could also exist, which means they’d be more widely accepted in places and could fit loner personas instead of being the watchdogs of the NCR. THINGS I’D LIKE TO SEE There are plenty of small details I know I’d want to see in the production. Of course, I think we all know VATS the way we know it would make the series pretty corny, and I’ve thought of a way for it to be more possible. Since this is Bethesda solely? no Obsidian, things from Fallout 4 are the most recent canon. The holographic scope could be a good example of how to make VATS realistic and not turn the series into a joking matter. Plug the Pip-Boy into the holographic scope, and it helps you pick the most plausible regions to fire at while also helping more accurately steady the rifle. It could also be plugged into microfusion weapons such as the laser rifle to do the same thing, provided it has a scope or a dot sight or something, apologies, I’m not a gun nut and know very little about it. I’d also like to see recurring unimportant characters. Maybe a wandering trader that shows up every few episodes, or a mysterious stranger that we see in the background occasionally, like Where’s Waldo on TV. It would be neat for the main characters (I’m sorry, but I personally would dislike a series that followed different characters every season/episode!) to visit the same places after a while. Maybe stash supplies at a Red Rocket and show up there when they need them multiple episodes later, to give us a sense of ‘small world’ and not just new place every episode. I found myself, in my FO:NV and FO4 experience(s), going back to the early game towns to finish old, not done quests or take advantage of not being known and thus hated there. Chems. Fiends. Dealers. Who doesn’t, even secretly, love that dark side of Fallout? It gives it a sense of realism that you can’t normally get by sugarcoating things. The start of FO4, going to Drumlin Diner and finding the mother being harassed by dealers who need money from the in-debt son they got hooked on jet was a real dilemma, to the point I remember it, I remember a small detail from a game. Slowly! Not every episode has to be a gunfight with raiders. I’d enjoy a somewhat TV Soap side of things. For people who don’t know what a soap/soap opera is, it’s a more domestic acted out show, like General Hospital. An episode dealing with paying off a debt by working on a Brahmin ranch or guarding a caravan would develop the characters, and wrench at our hearts when that ranch gets raided and burned down and the caravan robbed a few episodes later, or even alluded to. Develop multiple characters for us. If shows like Chicago Fire can go on for years simply writing about the things firefighters go through, it’d be even easier to keep one about the wasteland going because there’s much more possibility. People say they should change the characters and location up every season/episode, so it doesn’t dry up, but I feel like they could easily keep it going with enough good writing. Continuity! I’d like it to have things, even small things, that show up in later episodes. Drop a bottle of Sunset Sarsaparilla on the streets of Primm? Next time you show up, maybe have some broken glass rolling about. Big things, too. Don’t fire off ten shots from a six shooter. LOOSE CHARACTER IDEAS I wouldn’t get too crazy with this since it’s just fans throwing ideas around, but I would like there to be some cool things that we put out there for writers to possibly see. Diversity is one thing to keep in the back of the mind, but we shouldn’t be going crazy about it and making decisions solely to be diverse. Let’s not assume anything about there being a bug group, but there should be 3-4 main characters and like 8 side characters that show up at least every few episodes each. I want to see some of your ideas as-well, or add-ons to mine! My first idea, a former raider dealing with addiction and guilt. A character who deserted a raider group because of a moral dilemma would be a good plot point to look at, and make for a few episodes or sub-plots about his/her chem addiction and slow reveal of past stories, maybe even a sub plot about their former gang. A Desert Ranger You honestly can’t expect people to want this. If we’re hypothetically talking about my 2065 idea, desert ranger works. If not, then maybe a NCR veteran ranger deserter. They’d hopefully be a side character taking mercenary jobs on the fly and looking out for themselves, and accidentally getting close to people. Let me know what your ideas are, or if you like/dislike my ideas!
[FNV] Please help. Severe stuttering, can't start new game and other problems suddenly happening without adding or removing any mods.
So today when I booted up my modded New Vegas the menu took forever to load, and when I try to load a save it takes forever and once if finally loads the game is severely stuttering, especially when I shoot a gun. I have NVAC, NVTF, The new mod limit bug fix, ENboost and various other fixes already installed. The game had been working perfectly before this, I had even been playing the game last night with none of these issues present. Nothing changed in my game files from last night to today. I am at a loss as to why this is happening. A nostalgic reading of FNV's endings beginning with DLC
Honest Hearts: And so it was that the conflict between the New canaanites and the White Legs was finally resolved. The Courier's involvement had tipped the scale, shifting the fragile balance of power. Demoralized by the Dead Horse and Sorrows attack the Courier and Joshua Graham led against them, the White Legs retreated to Great Salt Lake. Their days were numbered. Word soon reached the 80s tribe that the White Legs' spirit was broken, their war chief a dim shadow of his former self. By year's end, the 80s would overrun the White Legs' camps, scattering the tribe to the winds and claiming the Great Salt Lake for its own. The Sorrows fought beside Joshua Graham and the Dead Horses, eradicating the threat the White Legs posed to Zion. Seeing the Courier convince Joshua Graham to spare Salt-Upon-Wounds, the Sorrows learned that retribution could be tempered by mercy. Though he despaired at the Sorrows' loss of innocence, Daniel took some small consolation in the Courier's lesson, and prayed it would take root. Having helped eradicate the White Legs from Zion, the Dead Horses returned to Dead Horse Point in triumph. They remained neutral toward the Sorrows, but as years went on, there were periods of competitive friction, even violence, between the tribes. The New Canaanites - Daniel especially - intervened regularly as mediators, but found it difficult to reconcile the tribes' conflicts. The defeat of the White Legs in Zion marked a turning point in the fortunes of the Happy Trails Caravan Company. Every two months, the caravan met with the New Canaanites in Zion Valley to trade. Happy Trails soon returned to prosperity. The vigilance of the Sorrows and Dead Horses in defending southwestern Utah, initially startling to Happy Trails caravans, soon proved a blessing. The tribes united against the 80s, driving them back from Highway 50, and thus opening yet another trading route for Happy Trails caravans Follows-Chalk took the Courier's words to heart and decided that the big cities of the Mojave Wasteland and NCR were best left unexplored. Though he sometimes dreamed of distant lands, he continued to support his family at Dead Horse Point, and eventually his wanderlust faded. Waking Cloud was distraught when she learned of her husband's death, but took comfort from her tribe, and the compassion of the New Canaanites. She forgave Daniel for having concealed her husband's fate from her, and learned to accept his fate. When her grief faded, she took a husband from the Dead Horse tribe. At her bidding, he stayed close to home. The threat of the White Legs ended, Joshua Graham helped the Sorrows and Dead Horses tend to their fallen comrades and secure Zion. The Courier's words had stayed Joshua's wrath in his darkest hour, and in sparing Salt-Upon-Wounds, he was changed. While he continued to advocate militant opposition to the enemies of New Canaan, he sometimes showed quarter to those who crossed his family. Eventually this new spirit would diminish the myth of the Burned in distant lands - a small price for the peace it brought to Joshua Graham. For years after the defeat of the White Legs, Daniel did his best to minister to the Sorrows' spiritual needs. Try as he might, he could not hold back the tribe's increasing militancy and reverence of Joshua Graham. Demoralized, he returned to his family at Dead Horse Point. His failures haunted him for the rest of his days. And with that, the Courier walked out of the history of the tribes of Zion and back to the gathering storm of the Mojave Wasteland. Dead Money: The survivors of the Sierra Madre thought about gathering at the Fountain and waiting for the Courier. In the end, the collar's silence made them uneasy, and the fear of turning on each other made them hesitate, and leave the goodbyes - unspoken. The radio message at the fountain was enough for them, and there was no need to add another farewell on top of all they had suffered. Dog forgot himself, as did the voice that raged within him. After their passing, a new voice spoke within the mutant's shell. It was difficult for the voice to remember the two it once was... there was the beast, Dog consumed by hunger... ...and the other in reverse... the one consumed by control. Both were driven by need for the other. The Courier brought them together, somehow, joined the two into one. All that happened at the Sierra Madre, was a faint memory to the new personality... like a flickering light in the clouds of the mind. The new voice did not think of the Courier again until the battle at The Divide reached his ears. The battle between the two couriers, beneath the torn skies and the Old World flag... each bearing a message for the other. And the mutant prayed the Courier that had saved him... had been saved in return. Dean Domino, entertainer, singer... thief... explored the Sierra Madre not long after he was rescued by the Courier. Once he left the theater, the Sierra Madre recognized him as a guest, and many doors opened to him. He had to admit, it had been built to last. During his search, he came across the final records of Vera and Sinclair, and realized what happened the night the bombs fell. He felt strangely sad for a moment, and he had no idea why. Shrugging it off, his mind turned instead to where the Courier had come from. Vegas still survived, out there in the Mojave. Its sights, sounds... and casinos, ripe for the taking. So giving the Sierra Madre one last nod and a wink, he set off beyond the Cloud to begin again. Christine, her mission complete, found new purpose as the Sierra Madre's warden. She watched over it silently - by choice. Over time, the ghost people came to see her as one of the Holograms. They would watch, silently, as she walked among them. At times, Christine thought of the Courier, who had kept Elijah's hand from her throat. The Courier reminded her of the other courier she had met in the Big Empty, and wondered if the two had found each other at last. She did not think of them again until she heard the legends of the Divide. The Divide, where the two messengers, the two couriers, fought beneath an ancient flag, at the edge of the world. You've heard of the Sierra Madre Casino. We all have, the legend, the curses. Some foolishness about it lying in the middle of a City of Dead. A city of ghosts. Beneath a blood-red cloud a bright, shining monument, reaching out, luring treasure hunters to their doom. An illusion. A promise that you can change your fortunes. Begin again. Finding it, though, that's not the hard part. It's letting go. Old World Blues: As it had been in the years before the Great War Big MT... the Big Empty... became home to one of the brightest minds of the 23rd century. The Courier watched over the Big Empty for years to come, caring for it, and keeping its discoveries safe until they were needed to help others. Which had always been Big MT's purpose. Past the laboratories and Science, it had always been intended as a place to build the future of all mankind. The Sink Central Intelligence Unit was impressed by the amount of exploration the Courier had undertaken. Facilities believed lost, destroyed, or ones that had simply gotten up and walked to new locations had been re-discovered by its intrepid new master. Internally, the artificial personality debated as to whether it preferred the old management to the new... and concluded that the Courier's thorough approach to research and investigation was admirable and worthy of its respect Dr. Mobius continued his research undisturbed in the Forbidden Zone. As much as he had attempted to create better scorpions, he tried the same with humanity, with considerably less success. These failures didn't bother him overmuch. Once the rush of Mentats wore off, he forgot he had failed in any event. After all, the bright young mind who had come to visit him in the Forbidden Zone had already exceeded his expectations. The Sink atop the Dome bustled with the voices of a small town, constantly chirping, arguing, and snarling at each other. Still, this all happened productively in the interests of its new owner. The Sink Central Intelligence Unit discovered, despite its inversion code, it was comforted by the sense of community the other personalities gave it. The Biological Research Station, obsessed with seeding everything in sight, requested a transfer to the X-22 Botanical Garden... so that it might, in its own words, "sensually fertilize the garden's smooooth contours." The Garden sent back a polite refusal, saying it had prior commitments with a Vault it had helped infect before the war. The Book Chute continued to devour all seditious materials until it nearly choked on a paper clip. It adamantly maintained it was a Chinese paper clip, and the whole thing had been an elaborately orchestrated assassination attempt. Whatever the reason, it slowed down for a while, carefully appraising each document and clipboard that came to it. The light switches continued to bicker and flicker. This persisted until the day someone dropped a flashlight in the Sink, and the two of them united in their hatred of the "showboat." One of them eventually transferred to the Lightwave Dynamics plant - and began a long, unrequited affair with one of the holograms. The Sink continued to ruthlessly scrub any particulate matter that came near it. Once it learned of the Innovative Toxins Plant, however, it gained new purpose. It sought to develop anti-toxins to flush into its drains and counteract the poisons bleeding into the soil. The Toaster continued its psychotic spree, reducing all appliances in range to scrap electronics and spare parts. After one of its more psychotic episodes, however, the other Sink personalities decided enough was enough, and dumped the Toaster in a bathtub. Sparking and hissing, the Toaster swore its enemies would rue the day when they had bread - and no way to toast it. Muggy did his best to collect coffee cups, although in his quest, he accidentally trapped himself in Higgs Village. It might have been the end for poor Muggy. Except... he found it peaceful there, tidying up the kitchens of the Think Tank Professors back when they had been flesh and bone. Well, except for Dr.O, who was an asshole for having created Muggy in the first place. Muggy left O's house deliberately dirty, punishing the dishes and cups that lived there in blind revenge for serving Dr. O. Blind Diode Jefferson, with sounds the Courier brought him, created a symphonic counter-frequency that saved Big MT from sonic invasion in 2910. If you didn't hear about it - good. It was rumored by the other personalities that he had a brief fling with the light switches. Although he forgot their names once too often and was soon left in the dark as punishment. Auto-Doc, always gentle and methodical, kept sewing up the Courier in all the right places when the skin split open from repeated wear and tear. The Auto-Doc was just glad to have purpose again. It heard its simpler brothers and sisters who got shipped to the Sierra Madre were bored out of their skulls in that toxic, dead city. In time, the Auto-Doc found a way to deactivate the Y-17 Trauma Harnesses, releasing the corpses they had held prisoner for almost 200 years. As the Courier ran through the X-8 facility multiple times, the computers analyzed the test subject's movements. Rather than performing a superficial observation, they realized the subject barely knew what Communism was - or even what a high school was. This confused them for a time, until the facility finally realized that its research had... succeeded. So it let its cyberdogs out into the wastes to help protect small communities from physical aggression rather than communist propaganda The infiltration program in X-13 felt spent, having repeatedly upgraded the Stealth Suit until it could upgrade it no more. It felt warm, fulfilled, and a bit sluggish. It realized not long after, the Stealth Suit had left it without so much as a note on the nightstand. So the infiltration program sent out robobrains into the wastes looking for its wayward technology. It eventually found REPCONN HQ, and set up a new research center, testing and murdering Fiends who kept breaking into the facility. The cybernetic canine, gender: female, designation: ROXIE sat in her guard post in X-8. That is, until her "I'm in heat" programming circumvented her "stay" routine and she loped into the Mojave. There, she ran across Rex, who had been following the Courier, just as she had. They barked for a while, and realized they had a lot in common. The two of them constructed a litter of cyberpups, a small army of Boston terrifiers that gnawed and devoured anything in their path The Courier, organs intact, continued onwards, a little less heavy of step, but with all the organs in the right places. As they should be. After all, brains can develop a life of their own when left to their own thoughts, and the Courier's brain was more clever than most. Dr. Klein and the Think Tank remained alive, unaware of the world outside. They looped through their daily routine, none the wiser about the world beyond... although perhaps "wiser" was the wrong word. The world outside belonged to the Courier, and if anyone would shape it... well, the Courier had already called dibs. In the times following the Second Battle of Hoover damn however, Old World Blues took on a new meaning. Where once it was viewed as a form of sadness, nostalgia, it became an expression describing the potential for the future. It can be easy to see Science as evil, technology unchecked as the source of all ills, all misfortunes. With the Courier at the helm, Science became a beacon for the future. There was Old World Blues, and New World Hope. And hope ruled the day at Big MT. We could say more, but the stories in the Big Empty speak for themselves. Now armed with the Transportalponder, the Courier could return to the Dome at any time and crack open the secrets of the Big Empty, one by one. The Sink sat vigilant, waiting for its master to return, shoes covered in Mojave dust. Only one road yet remained, and it was one the Courier had to walk alone. Lonesome Road: When ED-E's circuits burned in the fires of the Divide, there was one small part that held on until the end. It was the fragment that held the Old World memories and the words of his creator in his last moments. As his last gesture, he sent one last signal to his counterpart in the Mojave, passing along what the Courier had taught him in the Divide. There was the chance.. always, that ED-E's journey would continue, perhaps carried by another eyebot in the Mojave.....the one from which the ED-E from the Divide had been shaped. For now, the Courier knew ED-E's history and could carry it, even if the eyebot had forgotten. Hopeville burned lightless in the night, invisible fires of radiation scorching it from within and without. It is said a man still walked its streets, with a an tattered jacket, an Old World flag etched on the back... He remained there, perhaps as punishment for the scars he left on the wastes - or a reminder of a history he could not forget. For Ulysses... his journey was over. The Courier had been the end of his road. As for the Courier... he turned his back on his home for the second time and made his way back, navigating the treachery of the Divide. Tunnlers and the Marked Men... avoided the lone figure, as if recognizing the Courier's right to passage... or out of fear. The Courier walked until he/she stood again upon the edge of the Divide, the last road he/she would walk before the second battle of Hoover Dam. There beside his feet, was a final package, from one Courier to another - a footlocker, bearing a gift, and a message. But that message - it is something for Couriers to carry, and for them alone. The lights flickered across the Divide, reminders that the Old World histories persist, and find meaning in the present. It's said war - war never changes. Men do, through the roads they walk. And this road - has reached its end. Fallout New Vegas: And so the Courier, who had cheated death in the cemetery outside Goodsprings, cheated death once again, and the Mojave Wasteland was forever changed. The Courier, with the aid of Yes Man, drove both the Legion and the NCR from Hoover Dam, securing New Vegas' independence from both factions. With Mr. House out of the picture, part of the Securitron army was diverted to The Strip to keep order. Any chaos on the streets was ended, quickly. Chaos became uncertainty, then acceptance, with minimal loss of life. New Vegas assumed its position as an independent power in the Mojave. Supporting the ideals of independence, the Courier was recognized as the man/woman responsible for a truly free New Vegas. He/she ensured Mr. House's tyranny was broken and neither Caesar's Legion nor NCR would ever gain control over New Vegas. Tabitha and Rhonda went east, through Caesar's land. Occasionally tales of their exploits found their way back west, though few believed them. Eventually the stories concerning the duo were collected and published, and proved to be quite popular with children. Invigorated by his travels with the Courier, Raul once more took up his guns in memory of his lost Rafaela. Soon after, the Mojave was filled with tales of the ghost-vaquero who hunts down those who prey on the weak. Though the Wasteland became anarchic after Hoover Dam, the Boomers' display of power dissuaded fortune seekers from attempting to penetrate Nellis. Due to their temporary truce, the Brotherhood allowed the NCR to retreat from the Mojave Wasteland without incident. In the relative peace that followed, Brotherhood patrols appeared along major roads, harassing travelers over any bits of technology they had. The peace with NCR served to ease Veronica's worries about the Brotherhood's immediate future. Still, a distance had arisen between her and her fellow members that would never be bridged. She began secluding herself in crumbling libraries of the Old World, learning of promising technologies she knew the Brotherhood would never adopt. Their leaders destroyed by the Courier, the Fiends scattered throughout the wasteland. Without the organization of Motor-Runner, Cook-Cook, Violet, and Driver Nephi, they were easy prey. After the Courier ensured New Vegas remain free, the Followers found that independent Vegas was even more unstable and violent than before. Old Mormon Fort became excessively burdened by the influx of patients, struggling to provide even the most basic of services. Arcade was tending to the locals of Freeside when he learned that Caesar's Legion had been defeated and NCR was being pushed out of New Vegas. Though he found that independence for New Vegas was not all he hoped it would be, Arcade did his best to help the locals govern themselves. With New Vegas' independence formally declared, Goodsprings thrived. More travelers stopped by Goodsprings on their way to and from the Strip, and the locals grew prosperous from the traffic. In the years following the destruction of Cassidy Caravans, NCR used evidence of the plot to blackmail the Crimson Caravan and the Van Graffs. NCR enacted strict trade laws with little resistance, strengthening their supply lines and their position in the Mojave. Cass lived to see the Courier bring down three armies and by her count, that was three more than she'd expected. She'd kept quiet about that, though. During the Battle of Hoover Dam, the Great Khans quickly evacuated Red Rock Canyonand headed north and east into the plains of Wyoming. There, they reconnected with the Followers of the Apocalypse and rebuilt their strength. Bolstered by ancient knowledge of governance, economics, and transportation, they carved a mighty empire out of the ruins of the Northwest. Thanks to the Courier and Lily, a cure for the nightkin's schizophrenia was found shortly after Doctor Henry's experiment concluded. Nightkin and other super mutants in the wasteland flocked to Jacobstown, and the town became known as a haven where a mutant could find peace Lily continued to take her medicine at half-doses, and although she remembered her grandchildren, her mind remained muddled and confused. Eventually, she parted ways with the Courier and traveled west, seeking the remnants of her past. Following the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, Freeside came to be known as one of the more stable areas in the region. Ironically, NCR refugees found Freeside safer than most of the rest of New Vegas, where resentment still lingers. After Rey's brain was transplanted into Rex's cybernetic body, it took Rex some time to adjust to the old scrapyard dog's memories. Eventually, Rex's mind settled peacefully, melding his own memories with that of long travels with Old Lady Gibson. Shaped up by the Courier's advice, The Misfits distinguished themselves during the Legion's attack on Camp Golf. Mags was finally promoted to Sergeant, and the rest of The Misfits received an official commendation. They continued to serve with distinction for many years. Though Novac was a low-priority target for the Legion, many of Novac's citizens died in its defense. In the weeks that followed, several Bright Followers returned to Novac to help restore its defenses, allowing it to remain independent of the NCR. Though NCR was withdrawing from the region, Boone remained in New Vegas, finding work as a security guard and caravan scout along the highways. While he might've preferred rejoining his old unit, Boone couldn't bring himself to abandon the city where he'd met his wife. After Hoover Dam, the leaderless Powder Gangers at the Correctional Facility vanished into the wastes, leaving the prison empty. The Correctional Facility became another abandoned ruin in the wasteland, its carcass occasionally picked over by enterprising prospectors. After the majority of the Vault 19 Powder Gangers joined the Great Khans, the weaker members scattered throughout the Mojave Wasteland. Though a few managed to erase their pasts, most never survived the journey. Primm Slim proves to be an able-minded, if not able-bodied, sheriff for Primm. Due to his slow speed, some crooks get away without a scratch, but Primm continues to prosper under his watchful robotic eye. With its logs cleared and its systems upgraded ED-E remained a vigilant and constant companion to the Courier. The Followers of the Apocalypse used the information recovered from ED-E on Poseidon Energy, to develop new methods to harness the energy of the sun. Despite distinguishing themselves during the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the rangers' victory was short-lived due to the Courier's interference. Chief Hanlon personally directed the evacuation of the rangers to Mojave Outpost as they fell back into NCR territory. Bitter over the waste of life in the Mojave, Hanlon stepped down from his post. After a campaign in which he denounced Oliver's and Kimball's hawkish, imperialist ways, Hanlon was elected as the senator of Redding. After their bold arrival at Hoover Dam, the Remnants disappeared as quickly as they came. Legends of their power spread throughout the southwest, a reminder of why people once feared the sight of vertibirds in the sky. And so the Courier's road came to an end... for now. In the new world of the Mojave Wasteland, fighting continued, blood was spilled, and many lived and died - just as they had in the Old World. Because war... war never changes.

I would like to know due to the exploit. You have to get a new sheriff for Primm (My kind of town quest), does not matter which, then a gang will try to attack the casino, you deal with them, then you wait approximately a week (I had to wait that much)and the casino is up and running. For now it includes a couple of dead residents, a couple of dead town guards and a dead casino guard (the casino should have had at least one guard), Mindy and Mitch and a couple of dead farmers. Ol' John and Little Amy are two new NPCs that will enable once Primm has been saved and the casino re-opens. Why they weren't there in the beginning has been explained in the game via notes. For Fallout: New Vegas on the PlayStation 3, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Primm residents not leaving the Casino". Primm's townsfolk are initially trapped inside the casino. Once the town is safe, they're then equally confined to their homes, and then never leave. However, there are a number of carefully crafted sandbox packages for them to populate the town once more that are never used (PrimmResident1Sandbox - 8).
